Microsystem technology includes the design, production and application of miniaturized technical systems with elements and components in the micrometer and nanometer range.

Microsystem technology is omnipresent in the modern world. Microsystems are present in all ink-jet printers and CD players, and such systems are used to control the ABS function in vehicles.

In principle microsystem technology is an interdisciplinary engineering science in which primarily methodical construction of prototypes and integrative links of miniaturized mechanical elements, microelectronic modules and microoptic components are employed to devise solutions for parts of new products and production methods.
